India hopes for restrain and peace as tension boils between the US and Iran in the aftermath of US airstrike that killed Iran General Soleimani.
As the US-Iran conflict takes on unpredictable turn after the US airstrikes killed Iran General Soleimani in the Iraqi soil, India has opined both sides for “maximum restraint” and maintain peace and order in the region. As Iran mourns to bid a final farewell to its most powerful military leader and beloved son General Soleimani, the US is over-vigilant and extra-cautious for any expected retaliation.
India’s international position has always appealed for a peaceful approach against any global crisis or concern. The US-Iran fallout comes during the disputed times when the economic climate of India has taken a nosedive. With the Indian economy already suffering from the all-time dip in its GDP and high inflation, the stiff between US-Iran is ominous for its economy.
Iran was one of the major oil suppliers of India before Washington imposed sanctions on Tehran’s oil and banks. India had last month entered into strategic deals with Iran for the development of the Chabahar port project.
India would like the regional nations to mediate and avoid any confrontation between both sides. Amidst the Middle East meltdown, India is hopeful that both sides would look forward to the regional peace and stability.
