Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of India’s political Gandhi family has been appointed as the Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East). Congress Members of Parliament, Jyotiraditya Scindia and K C Venugopal also assumed new positions ahead of the 2019 General Elections
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has been appointed as the Congress General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh (East). With the assumption of the new post, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be stepping into active politics in the upcoming elections.
“We’re fired up and ready to go!”, read a Congress Party tweet congratulating Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The tweet also congratulated Congress MPs, K C Venugopal and Jyotiraditya Scindia on their new appointments ahead of the General Elections in May, 2019.
With Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s appointment for Eastern UP, Jyotiraditya Scindia has been appointed as the All India Congress Committee General Secretary for Uttar Pradesh (West). The AICC declared that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be “taking charge with effect on first week of February 2019”, while the new Western UP General Secretary will take charge with “immediate effect”.
According to the AICC, President Rahul Gandhi has appointed K C Venugopal as “AICC General Secretary (organisation) with immediate effect”, replacing former AICC GS (org), Ashok Gehlot. The statement further clarified that Parliamentarian K C Venugopal would continue “in his role as AICC General Secretary in-charge for Karnataka”.
The Congress Party thanked former AICC General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, Gulam Nabi Azad, who has will now be assuming the role of AICC General Secretary for Haryana with immediate effect.
