Five Pakistanis charged for another nuclear heist in Washington as UK official warns Islamabad to take “non-reversible actions” against the terror groups and their financing in its soil.
Recognising the increased presence of terror groups in the Pakistani soil, the UK officials have warned Islamabad to act against terrorism. The US court has also brought to trial five Pakistanis who were caught smuggling nuke techs from the West to Pakistan.
Pakistan has been accused of acquiring nuclear wealth through thievery and subterfuge in the past. India has, on a number of occasions, alleged Pakistan of being in possession of the nuclear missile technology through illegal means and smuggling. It is comprehensible to conclude this since Pakistan barely has a base of science and technology in nuclear missile tech.
The five Pakistanis indicted have been charged with violation of federal laws for smuggling the US nuke technology for Islamabad’s nuclear missile programme. Pakistan’s history of nuclear smuggling has resulted in countries like North Korea, Libya and Iran to come in possession of the same.
While addressing a session at the Raisina Dialogue 2020 in New Delhi, the UK official to South Asia raised the issue of blacklisting Pakistan by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) if it did not put a curb to the terrorist activities taking place on its territory. UK will continue its dialogue on counter-terrorism with India against the laundering and terrorist financing in Islamabad
