India’s space agency ISRO plans to send Vyommitra, a half-humanoid into space before actually sending humans for the Gaganyaan mission.
For its monumental and ambitious project of Gaganyaan mission, India has released the first look of its humanoid prototype. India’s space agency Indian Space Research and Organisation (ISRO) is planning to send a humanoid to space in preparation for the Gaganyaan mission.
The Gaganyaan project will be India’s first orbital space journey of Indian crews, planned for 2022. According to ISRO chief K Sivan, the humanoid is almost ready to be launched and will be sent to space first, before sending the Indian crew for the space journey.
The humanoid prototype has been named as ‘Vyommitra’ and is the only female to join the space crew for the said mission. The talking humanoid is being prepared to be sent out into space by the end of this year. While discussing the capabilities of Vyommitra, K Sivan mentions that ‘she’ can speak in Hindi and English and is efficient in multitasking.
The Gaganyaan project will have three Indian astronauts along with doctors and air pilots joining the manned spaceflight mission.
