India’s #Metoo movement strikes again as writer-producer Vinta Nanda files FIR against actor Alok Nath. The Mumbai police has confirmed that a rape case has been filed against the actor at the Oshiwara police station under IPC section 376.

Early in October, Nanda posted details of the incident, which happened 19 years ago, on Facebook. The post outlined how the actor was responsible for harassing the writer more than once and raped her on one occasion. It also spoke of Nath’s drinking problem and the humiliation Nanda had to face for being a woman in the business.

Nath denied all accusations against him and had filed a civil defamation case against Nanda. The defamation case, however, was dismissed by the Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court. Actresses Sandhya Mridul and Deepika Amin have also accused the actor of sexual harassment. Post allegations of sexual harassment against him, Nath has been expelled from the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA).

Reportedly, Nanda would be willing to forgive the actor if he shows remorse. The writer said she does not seek revenge, but wants correction.
