The British Prime Minister Theresa May has scheduled an emergency visit to Brussels this Saturday in order to draft a finalised agreement before the European Union leaders’ meeting on Sunday.
Post May’s meeting on Wednesday with the EU President Jean-Claude Juncker, the Prime Minister acknowledged the persistence of unresolved issues. The Gibraltar trade conflict with Spain, the prolonged negotiations with France, Netherlands and Denmark over fisheries, and future trade policies are some principle concerns for the Brexit deal.
Reportedly, German officials have informed the EU that the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel is not open to further negotiations during the Special Brexit Summit on Sunday. She has asked for a finalised agreement before the Summit. Merkel wishes to resolve all of the existing issues by Sunday.
May has been in unremitting communication with various EU leaders and has scheduled a lunch with Austrian Chancellor, Sebastian Kurz in London, today.
