ISRO and Microsoft Collaborate to Support Space-tech Start-ups in India

ISRO and Microsoft signed a MoU on January 5th, 2023 to increase the space tech start-ups with technological tools and platforms. The focus is to fuel and empower space tech start-up across India with go-to-market support and mentoring to help them scale and ready. ISRO’s vision is to harness the market potential of promising space tech innovations and entrepreneurs in India. The start-up will get access to Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub platform which will provide support at every stage of their journey from idea to unicorn.

The Microsoft for Startups for Founders Hub will provide Indian startups to have free access to tech tools, resources and the vision they need to build their business. A world- class developer, technical support to build ad scale on Azure and productivity tools including GitHub Enterprise, Visual Studio Enterprise and Microsoft 365, and access to smart analytics with Power B1 and Dynamics 365.

The Chairman of ISRO, Shri Somnath mentioned how ISRO’s collaboration with Microsoft will benefit startups in their analysis and in processing vast amounts of satellite data for applications and using cutting edge methods like AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. It will be a platform for bringing together startups and providers of technology solutions to support national space technology ecosystem. 

The Indian President for Microsoft also emphasized the important role played by Indian startups in advancing the country’s space capabilities with the power of technology. The collaboration aims to empower space tech startups to provide cutting edge innovation and accelerate scientific discovery.

Additional to the technological advancements, Microsoft will provide mentoring support on various areas ranging from space engineering to cloud technologies, product and design, fundraising, sales and marketing. Founders will also have access to Microsoft Learn for specific tailored centric training content and programs to help build connections with potential customers and within the industry.

The joint collaboration will organise knowledge sharing and thought leadership sessions for startups with industry experts and opportunities to sell their solutions via Microsoft channels and marketplace.
