Russian envoy Nikolay Khudashev says Kashmir is India’s internal matter that comes under its constitutional space.

After Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov’s visit to India this week, its envoy to India has come out in support of the Modi government. The Russian minister had recently announced its support for India’s permanent seat at the UNSC. The Russian envoy to India Nikolay Khudashev has supported India’s decision on Kashmir, in his statement today.

According to Khudashev, India’s policy on Kashmir is India’s matter of internal politics. Jammu and Kashmir comes under the constitutional space of India; therefore, it does not require foreign intervention. The Russian envoy did not join the delegation that visited Kashmir last week. He has made it clear that he does not need to visit Kashmir to understand the ground situation.

On China’s intention to raise Kashmir issue at the UNSC, Khudashev commented that it was a matter of bilateral disputes between India and Pakistan. India had abrogated Article 370 that provided J&K special status in August last year. India has repeatedly emphasised that its decision comes in the interest of development in Kashmir.

Russia will be delivering the upgraded S-400 defence missile system by 2025, according to its Ambassador to India Khudashev. India’s Foreign Minister Jaishankar will be attending the trilateral meet between Russia, India and China.
