The state has recorded an overall of 74.21 percent of voter turnout for the Assembly elections held on Friday.

Female voters recorded a higher percentage of voter turnout in Rajasthan, at 74.66 percent, versus the 73.80 percent for men, as per the final-voter turnout registered by the Election Commission on Saturday.

There are 2.27 crore women and 2.47 crore men in the state.

Highest voter turnout was recorded at the Pokaran constituency at 87.47 percent. Lowest turnout was in Marwar Junction seat in Pali district.

There were as many as 2,274 candidates in 199 out of total 200 seats, which went to polls on Friday. Election in Alwar’s Ramgarh seat was postponed and the polling will take place later due to the death of BSP candidate Laxman Singh. Results will be announced on December 11.

The current government in power is the BJP under Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, which won the state election in 2013 against the Congress. Ashok Gehlot,  a two-time former chief minister of Rajasthan, and Jyotiraditya Scindia are the two promising candidates from the Congress.

As per exit polls released by various news channels and newspapers, it seems that the Congress will come back to power and topple the erstwhile BJP government. This state is a tester of the anti-incumbency sentiment that has flared up across the nation over the past few months, and may provide a prediction to what is in store for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
