On Thursday, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray was sworn in as chief minister of Maharashtra. Shiv Sena, congress and NCP aligned together to form government in Maharastra.
Amidst this dynamic situation, Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana said that PM Narendra Modi and Uddhav are like brothers. Moreover, he said that the Centre has a responsibility towards Maharashtra.
Interestingly, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is the first chief minister of the Thackeray family. The coalition government will act on the mistakes of the previous Devendra Fadnavis government, said Saamana.
Notably, Sena reminded PMModi of his responsibilities by saying that he doesn’t belong to one party. Moreover, he must fulfill his responsibilities towards Maharashtra.
“Uddhav Thackeray took oath as the chief minister. The new government is like a revolution in Maharashtra, writes Saamana writes in its editorial. He also mentioned that Uddhav’s government will be of truth and justice for Maharashtra. He accused Fadnavis government of putting “Maharashtra in debts of Rs 5 lakh crore.”
“Therefore Uddhav Thackeray will have to act fast but very carefully,” read Shiv Sena editorial. It is important to note that PM Narendra Modi also sent greetings to the new CM of Maharashtra.
NCP leader Ajit Pawar toppled the 4-day old Fadnavis government which gave way to Uddhav Thackeray to form a coalition government with NCP and Congress.
Thursday night, the new CM chaired the maiden meeting of his cabinet. Shiv Sena kept its promise and sanctioned Rs 20 crore for conservation of the Raigad Fort. Along with this the coalition government agreed to provide concrete assistance for farmers after reviewing existing schemes instead of any piecemeal aid.
Importantly, Thackeray chaired the first meeting of his cabinet at Sahyadri Guest House in south Mumbai.
