Rescue operations have been carried out by the Indian Army in the inundated areas of Rajasthan. Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi, Dholpur, and Baran witnessed incessant rainfall the past week.
The Indian Army carried out extensive rescue and relief operations in Rajasthan to tackle flood-like situation in the state. Kota, Jhalawar, Bundi, Dholpur, Baran and several parts of the state continue to be affected by floods due to incessant rainfall.
As many as 10 columns of the Army have been deployed in four districts of Eastern Rajasthan. While three of these were deployed in Kota, two each were deployed in Dholpur and Jhalawar. Three columns were deployed in Sawai Madhopur district.
Earlier on Monday, Lieutenant General Alok Kler conducted an aerial recce of the inundated areas in the state. The senior Army officer was also apprised about the rescue operations in the districts.
“Flood relief columns of the Sapta Shakti Command of the Indian Army were requisitioned by the State Administration for rescue operations in the heavily flooded areas in Eastern Rajasthan. The Army columns are conducting relief and rescue operations in the affected areas,” the Army said in a statement.
“The Army Commander interacted with the columns and appreciated the efforts been put in by Army personnel to provide relief and assistance to their countrymen in this need of the hour,” the statement further read.
Although more than 4,500 people have been rescued, several others are still stranded and awaiting assistance of the Army and the NDRF. Stranded people have been compelled to take shelters in temporary sheds without electricity or access to clean drinking water. The water level in the Chambal river has also significantly increased. Meanwhile, schools and other institutions in various districts continue to remain closed due to the floods.
