Thirteen suspects have been taken into custody by the Spanish police for running a prostitution racket. The victims of the racket were allegedly threatened with black magic upon noncompliance. They were also beaten up, compelled to use and sell drugs and were frequently kept locked up in a flat. The police have discovered objects related to black magic in the flat.
The investigation started after a victim filed a complaint at a police station in the city of Murcia. The victim told the police that their entry into Spain had been organised in exchange for a large debt, which was to be paid back by way of sex work. As per the authorities, the prostitution ring was led by s Brazilian who worked with allies to recruit young people in Brazil. The police said that they have rescued as many as 15 transgenders of Brazilian origin forced into prostitution in Murcia.
While four of the thirteen suspects have been detained, others have been released on bail. The investigation is in progress.
