India partially lifted the ban on the export of paracetamol and Hydroxychloroquine on April 6
World leaders have thanked India for providing Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and other essential drugs amidst the COVID19 pandemic.
“Extraordinary times require even closer cooperation between friends. Thank you India and the Indian people for the decision on HCQ. Will not be forgotten! Thank you Prime Minister @NarendraModi for your strong leadership in helping not just India, but humanity, in this fight!” US President Donal Trump said in a Twitter post on April 8.
Brazil’s President Javier Bolsonaro also thanked India and especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘timely assistance’.
The official handle of the PM of Israel tweeted, “Thank you, my dear friend @NarendraModi, Prime Minister of India, for sending Chloroquine to Israel. All the citizens of Israel thank you!”
After HCQ was touted as a possible drug to fight coronaviruses, world leaders including US President Donal Trump, had urged India to lift the ban on the export of HCQ. On March 25, the government of India had placed HCQ on the restricted items list through a notification. India partially lifted the ban on the export of paracetamol and Hydroxychloroquine on April 6.
