West calls for an in-depth investigation after evidences suggest that Iran might have mistakenly shot down the Ukrainian passenger jet.
The Ukrainian jet, Boeing 737 that took its flight from Tehran went down minutes after take-off, claiming the lives of all 176 people on board on Wednesday. The majority of the passengers were from Iran and Canada, while others were Britons, Swedish, Germans and Afghan nationals.
The plane crash happened on the same night of Iran’s shelling on the US settlements in Iraq. According to the evidences and intel collected on the plane crash, it is highly likely that Iran defences might have “accidentally” downed the jet in what resulted to be a terrible tragedy.
Iran has invited outside experts to join the plane crash investigation to decode the damaged black box of the Boing jet. Earlier the crash was believed to have happened because of mechanical failure in the engine. The intelligence reports coming from the US, Canada and Australia suggest missile strikes to be the likely cause of the plane crash.
The US officials speculate that Iran had mistaken the jet for US warplane and downed it with the surface-to-air missiles. While the world leaders have called the incident a “terrible accident”, Iran dismisses the possibility of airstrikes and assures that the plane was returning to the airport following a technical problem.
The leaders of Canada, UK and Ukraine want a thorough investigation into the plane crash which will be taking place in Iran.
