UAE – Commemoration Day

November 30, has been observed as Martyrs’ Day in the United Arab Emirates since 2015. Each year the nation honours its fallen soldiers who lost their lives safeguarding the homeland. As declared by the UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, November 30 each year, is a  public holiday set aside for commemorating the martyrs and hence is recognised as Commemoration Day.

Earlier today, the UAE Cabinet announced the recognition of November 29 as Commemoration Day for 2018. The day would be marked by a flag hosting at half-mast followed by a minute of silence at 11:30 a.m. to honour the bravery of those who left behind everything to protect the honour of their nation.

The ceremony has been moved up to November 29 as November 30 falls on a Friday. The entire nation will join the families of the martyrs on Thursday, November 29, 2018, to mourn the great loss and honour the great sacrifice.
