The historic inauguration of Kartarpur corridor opens the doors for Indian Sikhs to visit Darbar Sahib. A large number of devotees from India have visited the Gurdwara and installed a golden palanquin at the shrine.

As per the reports, almost 1,100 Sikhs visited Pakistan to attend the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak in Nankan Sahib. Besides, Punjab Governor Chaudhary Sarwar accompanied them to Pakistan.

Above all, he along with the visitors installed the golden palanquin they had brought with them.

The opening of Kartarpur corridor will help in establishing trust between the countries. The governor too mentioned and said Kartarpur corridor completed within the stipulated time. Moreover, it will help bring both the countries closer.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan government impose a mandatory sanction of No Objection Certificate (NOC). The visitors have to get it from interior ministry of Pakistan. Importantly, it is applicable only on foreign Sikhs, other than Indians.


Significantly, it is important to note that the historic opening of Kartarpur scheduled for 9th November. The visitors from India will get a chance to attend it. Pakistan Prime minster will inaugurate the corridor much before the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak on November 12th.

In spite of acrimony, both the countries signed an agreement on the Kartarpur Corridor. The agreement not only provides access to Sikh community from India. but also allow them to make a visa-free visit to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib.

Importantly, Darbar Sahib is the shrine of the founder of Sikh religion Guru Nanak where he spent the last 18 years of his life. As per the agreement, Pakistan will provide access to 5000 Indian pilgrims daily.
