Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, met with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, on Wednesday, 14th May, 2025 Wednesday to discuss deepening bilateral ties and strengthening joint efforts to maintain regional security and stability in the Middle East.
The high-level talks occurred at Qasr Al-Shati in Abu Dhabi and underscored the enduring strategic partnership between Riyadh and Abu Dhabi. During the meeting, Prince Khalid conveyed greetings from Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, expressing their best wishes for the continued development and prosperity of the UAE. Both leaders reviewed recent regional and international developments, placing particular emphasis on the security situation across the Middle East. Discussions centered on joint initiatives to counter ongoing threats, enhance defense cooperation, and coordinate diplomatic responses to regional challenges, according to reports from the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The talks come at a pivotal time as the region continues to grapple with geopolitical tensions, economic realignments, and the ongoing threat of extremist movements. Both nations emphasized the importance of Arab unity and collaboration to preserve peace, sovereignty, and prosperity for the peoples of the region.
Senior officials in attendance included Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor, and Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif, Director General of the Saudi Office of the Minister of Defense. Their presence reinforced the commitment of both countries to comprehensive cooperation on security and intelligence fronts. The meeting also followed the recent GCC-US Summit in Riyadh, where Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, represented the UAE. That summit, which brought together Gulf leaders and U.S. President Donald Trump, focused on reinforcing strategic partnerships and coordinating efforts to address regional threats. Sheikh Khaled thanked King Salman for hosting the event, calling it a critical opportunity to solidify Gulf-American collaboration.
The ongoing dialogue between the UAE and Saudi Arabia reflects a broader effort to align political, economic, and military strategies amid a rapidly changing regional landscape. Both nations reaffirmed their shared vision for a secure, stable, and prosperous Middle East.
