Operation Sindoor

In a swift and calculated response to the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam region, the Indian armed forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ in the early hours of Wednesday on 7th May 2025, executing a precision strike that obliterated nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The nine camps are as follow: Markaz Subhan Bahawalpur, Markaz Taiba Muridke, Mehmoona Joya Sialkot, Sarjal Camp Sialkot, Sawai Nala Camp Muzaffarbad, Syedna Belal Camp Muzaffarabad, Gulpur Camp Kotli, Abbas Camp Kotli, Barnala Camp Bhimbar.

The 25-minute operation, conducted between 1:05 am and 1:30 am, specifically targeted high-value infrastructure belonging to Pakistan-based terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen, marking one of India’s most decisive cross-border counter-terror missions in recent years.

At a press briefing in New Delhi, today morning, India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, along with Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, detailed the strategic goals and results of the pre-dawn operation, emphasizing the coordinated involvement of the Army, Navy, and Air Force in executing the mission. Mr. Vikram Misri further elaborated on the larger framework of terrorism in Pakistan, revealing that intelligence agencies had identified 21 active terror camps in the region. “Our response was essential to prevent imminent attacks. It was measured, restrained, and carried out with the utmost caution to avoid escalation,” Misri stated.

The Pahalgam region of Jammu and Kashmir, known for its scenic beauty, turned into a scene of horror on April 22, 2025, when four terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in the scenic Baisaran Valley. The assault carried out using M4 carbines and AK-47 rifles, claimed the lives of at least 26 civilians. Surrounded by dense pine forests, the location offered the attackers both concealment and tactical advantage. Widely condemned for its sheer scale and brutality, the massacre is regarded as one of the deadliest civilian attack in India since the 2008 Mumbai terror strikes.

India’s retaliatory strikes were launched just hours ahead of a nationwide civil defence exercise scheduled across 244 districts, aimed at bolstering preparedness in the event of a hostile assault. In the wake of the Pahalgam attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a strong message, pledging to relentlessly track down not only the attackers but also those involved in orchestrating the plot. He vowed that they would face retribution “beyond their imagination,” no matter where they tried to hide.

Several nations of the world supported India’s stance against countering terrorism. Moscow denounced all forms of terrorism and highlighted that the global community must work together to fight terror threat effectively. Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, and expressed firm support for India’s right to defend itself in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. In a post on X, he wrote, “Israel supports India’s right for self defense. Terrorists should know there’s no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent. Countries such as Qatar, and Saudi also acknowledged the immediate need to condemn terrorism, and supported India’s concerted efforts.

India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held a conversation with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, He briefed him on India’s targeted and measured response aimed at deterring cross-border terrorism.

Operation Sindoor stands as a powerful demonstration of India’s resolve to defend its citizens and sovereignty in the face of brutal terrorism. With strong global backing and a clear diplomatic message, India has signaled that acts of terror will be met with decisive, calculated action—and that those responsible will find no refuge.
