In a recent development, the fourth round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between India and Bosnia and Herzegovina took place in Sarajevo on 28th November, 2024. The Indian delegation was led by Mr. Arun Kumar Sahu, Additional Secretary (Central Europe), Ministry of External Affairs, and the Bosnian delegation was led by Mr. Tarik Bukvic, Head of Department for Asia and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the Foreign Office Consultations, the two sides undertook a comprehensive review of bilateral, regional and international issues, with the discussions also focussing on progress made in political relations, trade and investments, S&T, cultural relations, people-to-people contacts through students and youth exchange and promotion of tourism between the countries. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the developments in the neighbourhood of India and Bosnia and Herzegovina, multilateralism including the BRICS, United Nations, European Union, Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and global developments of mutual interest.
Mr. Sahu also met with the advisors Marko Milisav and Maja Gacic, from the Chairwoman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and paid courtesy call to Christian Schmidt, the High Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The year 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between India and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both countries have been enjoying close and friendly relations, with cooperation expanding in various sectors.
Additionally, the two sides agreed to hold next round of Foreign Office Consultations at a mutually convenient time in New Delhi.
Taking to X (twitter), the Ministry of External Affairs shared “The 4th India-Bosnia & Herzegovina FoC co-chaired by Mr. Arun Sahu, Additional Secy (Central Europe) & Mr. Tarik Bukvic, HOD for Asia & Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bosnia & Herzegovina was held in Sarajevo today. Both sides reviewed various aspects of bilateral relations including political, economic, educational, and cultural and S&T cooperation. They also exchanged views on regional and global issues”.
