The 14th World Spice Congress (WSC) is the conglomeration of the world spice industry. It is the world’s largest exclusive business manifesto for the spice sector. The WSC is organized by the Spices Board India which is under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. It is also in association with various trade and export forums and the 14th WSC is scheduled to be held at CIDCO Exhibition and Convention Centre, Navi Mumbai, Maharastra, from 16th to 18th of February, 2023. More than 1000 from over 50 different countries is being expected to participate in the upcoming event.
This biennial event which is organized by the Spices Board India endures the premier platform that helps bring the global spice industry together. This platform deliberates on the problems and prospects in the sphere of spices. The event also looks forward to the contemplation of various aspects incorporating production, processing, quality and safety, value addition, trade, and supply chain management of spices in the situation of the new normal. The Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion Agency of the G20 member countries and the Regulatory Authorities from major importing countries are expected to have deliberations with the Indian Spice Industry during the event. Secretary of the Spices Board, Shri D Sathiyan IFS, informed that this time, the Spices Board is organizing the World Spice Congress as an event of G20 on the sidelines of the G20 presidency of India for a period from December 2022 to November 2023, which is more focussed on stimulating the trade ties of India with the G20 countries. Interaction and deliberation on various issues and programs with the regulatory authorities of the major importing countries and with the Ministers of Trade and Industry Association of the G20 member countries are anticipated to take part in the WSC 2023. He further added that the 14th edition of the WSC is going to be all about and only about “SPICES”. The theme that is chosen for this current edition is “Vision 2030: SPICES (Sustainability– Productivity – Innovation – Collaboration- Excellence and Safety)”
The first edition of the World Spice Congress was held in 1990, and since then 13 successful editions have been organized in the last three decades. The WSC has established a hallowed tradition, benefitting the stakeholders of the spices, across the globe, and it persists as a much sought-after event amongst the global spice community. WSC stimulates new business opportunities and strengthens trade connections.
Along with the business sessions, WSC will also have an exhibition demonstrating the capabilities and strengths of the Indian Spice Industry including the range of products, innovation, cutting-edge technology, and applications in the medicinal/health areas.
