The United States President Donald Trump is likely to nominate former Fox news anchor and current State Department spokeswoman, Heather Nauert for the position of Ambassador to the United Nations.

According to reliable sources, the United States President, Donald Trump will be nominating the United States Department of State spokeswoman, Heather Nauert for succeeding United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley. Senate confirmation for the President’s nominee, however, is a matter of deliberation as she lacks prior policy making experience.

Heather Nauert is a former Fox news anchor and was appointed as the spokeswoman of the United States Department of State in April 2017. Earlier this year, she was appointed as the acting Undersecretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs. Appreciating Nauert for her sincere service in the past, President Trump said, “She’s excellent. She’s been with us a long time,” adding, “She’s been a supporter for a long time.”

After the in-office Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley’s resignation in October, the US President has been looking for a loyal candidate for the post. Reportedly, White House officials have had a skeptical view of Ambassador Haley. She also harshly critiqued Russia’s actions in the recent Ukraine -Russia naval conflict, while the US president refrained from criticising his Russian counterpart.

The United States Department of State spokesperson Heather Nauert’s appointment is likely to be disputed in the Senate given her political inexperience.
