In an unprecedented meet along the shadows of G-20 Summit 2019, US President Donald Trump became the first sitting President of USA to set foot inside North Korea.

US President Donald Trump met his North Korean counterpart Premier Kim Jong-un in a historic meeting at the heavily fortified demilitarised zone (DMZ), dividing North and South Korea. Donald Trump has become the first sitting US president to enter the North Korean territory and hold talks with a North Korean Leader.

The surprise meeting came after Donald Trump posted an invite on public social media platform Twitter extending an invitation for Kim Jong-un to meet him.

The meeting holds a symbolic milestone as the two leaders held an hour long discussion on stalled negotiations on nuclear disarmament of North Korea. According to official news agencies, the meeting took place in the de-militarised zone (DMZ), in a building known as Freedom House, on the South Korean side of the order.

Good to see you again. I never expected to meet you at this place,” Mr Kim was recorded telling Mr Trump through an interpreter in a highly anticipated encounter broadcasted live on international television. “Big moment,” Donald Trump replied, “tremendous progress.”

The two Presidents, government representatives from US and North Korea will meet in the next weeks to resume discussions about North Korea’s nuclear programme.
