In a bid to almost double the number of tourists, the UAE introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa scheme for tourists of any nationality.

The UAE has been on the bucket list of travelers across the world, and now, with the country introducing the new visa scheme, traveling to the UAE will be much more relaxed and smoother.

The decision regarding the new visa scheme was taken in a meeting chaired by UAE’s Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid al Maktoum, who later tweeted, “Today we approved the change of the tourist visa system in the country so that the duration of the tourist visa is five years, multi-use for all nationalities. We receive more than 21 million tourists annually and our aim is to establish the country as a major global tourist destination.”

The new visa scheme offers a multiple entry five-year visa to people from any nationality and it is being said that they may be allowed to stay for six months at a stretch. Before this, the tourist visas were valid for only 30 to 90 days.

The move comes as the UAE wants to boost its tourist footfall, establish the UAE as a global tourist destination, and to prepare the country for the ensuing 50 years of development.
