Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his two-day visit to Karnataka starts off the 107th edition of the Indian Science Congress

The 107th session of the Indian Science Congress which will be a five-day event has been inaugurated by PM Modi in Bengaluru. The Prime Minister addressed the gathering of top academicians, delegates and scientists at the University of Agricultural Sciences. The event is expected to see around 15000 footfalls with two noble laureates among the visitors.

The event has been organised with the theme of ‘Science and Technology for Rural Development’ to bridge the gap between agro and rural development. The conference will provide the stage to renowned scientists and Nobel Prize winners Stefan Hell of Germany and Ada E Yonath of Israel. The contributions and experiences of young innovators and farmers will be brought together under one umbrella to focus upon increased crop productivity.

PM Modi discussed the need for India to excel in the field of science and innovation. With India’s improved position at the Innovation Index, he envisions the development and growth of the country to come from the field of science and research. The Prime Minister who is on a two-day visit to Karnataka had yesterday addressed the scientists at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
