Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to hold extensive talks with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe covering trade and technological ties, oil import embargo in Asia and security.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Osaka, Japan on 27 June 2019 to attend the highly anticipated G-20 Summit 2019. He will hold marathon bilateral meeting with world leaders attending the Summit but according to the Ministry of External Office, bilateral meetings with Japanese premier Shinzo Abe hold utmost geo-political significance owing to India’s increasing trade and technology with Japan.
PM Modi also held talks with Shinzo Abe on Indo-Pacific region, enhancing connectivity and improving trade infrastructure between the two nations.
“In the next five years, our target is to make India a five-trillion dollar economy. Social sector remains our top priority. Also, we will focus more on infrastructure development, especially digital infrastructure,” Modi said in an official statement.
Ahead of the official JIA (Japan, India and America) meeting within the gambit of the G-20, oil imports from Iran, trade sanctions and Indo-Pacific regional connectivity will be on the list.
Positively remarking that Japan has been India’s premier partner in technological innovations and developmental projects, PM Modi said that Japan will continue to be India’s No. 1 partner in South-East Asia.
PM Modi was received with a grand welcome from the Indian Community in Japan. “Talent and manpower of India are contributing to strengthening Japan”, he said to the enthusiastic Indian community present in his welcome ceremony.
