In the wake of Easter terror attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter which left more than 250 people and hundreds injured, Sri Lanka’s tourism economy has taken a huge hit. Tourist numbers have dwindled over the past months due to security concerns.

Sri Lankan Minister of Tourism and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga is on a visit to India’s financial capital, Mumbai. He is on a diplomatic mission to persuade Indians that Sri Lanka will remain a safe destination for Indian tourists, fully backed by the country’s intelligence agencies.

“India is our big brother. We always fall in line with Indian politics and Indian foreign policy. It is always a good time to visit Sri Lanka. All Indian tourists can avail tourism opportunities with 50-60 per cent discounts”, Amaratunga said in a press meet.

He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visit to Sri Lanka, in a strong message to all Indians that it is indeed a safe and secure country for Indian tourists.
