Iran has attacked two of the bases of US troop in Iraq early in the morning in retaliation to the US airstrike that killed Iran’s military leader last week. The Pentagon has confirmed that the attacks have on the housings of US troop in Irbil and Al Asad.

Tehran has issued a statement citing UN that the attacks on the US base have been in self-defence and in retaliation to a US airstrike that killed Iran General Soleimani. According to Iranian media, a dozen airstrikes that hit two of the settlements of the American troop has killed “80 US terrorists.”

Tehran has officially sent out a warning in the Middle East to all US allies that it will target the territory that allows Americans to operate on their soil against Iran.

The Pentagon has briefed the US President about the situation and President Trump sounds optimistic in his latest tweet. The US hangs in the dilemma to escalate or defuse the situation in hand.

In the face of a possible US-Iran war, oil prices have skyrocketed and the market’s collapse show signs of economic turmoil in the coming days. The UK and the other NATO allies are put on high alert after the recent developments.

It all began after the US embassy in Baghdad was attacked by the pro-Iran supporters of the Kata’ib Hezbollah militants. The US later carried out a drone strike on the convoy of the Kata’ib Hezbollah founder and chief Abu al-Muhandis  that also killed Iran Quds force General Soleimani on Friday.
