A research scholar of Jamia MIlia University, Sabzar Sofi was killed along with his associate, Asif Ahmed in an encounter in Kashmir today. The terrorist was a former research scholar in the university who has quite the course two years ago.
Clashes broke out and violence erupted as the news of Sabzar Sofi’s death reached his hometown in the Sangam area of Anantnag district as people were outraged upon learning of his death. The youth took to streets to stage protests against the killing of the terrorists. The city came to a halt as the stone pelters attacked the security forces, causing schools and colleges to shut down in the district of Srinagar. The security personnel used tear gas shelling and pellet firing, as a result of which, three protestors were injured. Six security personnel also suffered injuries as a result of the firefight.
The terrorist was reportedly preparing for his civil services examination before he became a terrorist two years ago in October.
