S Jaishankar External Affairs Minister (EAM) of India will visit Serbia from November 7-9. He will hold bilateral delegation with his Serbian counterpart.

The visit aims to boost bilateral relations between the countries. Importantly, he will meet Serbian President Aleksandar Vucci. Along with this, he scheduled to meet President of Serbian National Assembly (speaker) Maja Gojković.

Besides, the first Deputy Prime Minister and minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic invited the External Affairs Minister. 

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released a statement in this regard mentioning, “India and Serbia enjoy close and friendly relations.” Furthermore, “bilateral ties have strengthened considerably with the exchange of high-level visits in past few years.”

These high-level visits include “visit of Vice President of India to Serbia in September 2018,” mentioned in the official statement issued by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). 

Moreover, “the current visit will provide an opportunity to take stock of bilateral ties between India and Serbia and explore new avenues of cooperation,” added the statement.

The Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu was on official visit to Serbia last year. The visit was characterised by extremely cordial discussion with Heads of Government. The visit was productive for Serbia too.

Importantly, both the countries signed two agreements. The agreements aim to cooperate on areas related to plant health and plant quarantine. Along with this, Air Services Agreement signed between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of India    Previously, Mr Aleksandar Vucic had visited India in his capacity as the Prime Minister of Serbia, in January 2017, to participate in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit. India and Serbia have historic and special relations as co-founders of the Non-Aligned Movement.
