Three bilateral agreements on military cooperation were signed between Mozambique and India

The Defence Minister had been to Mozambique on a three-day visit from July 28th to 30th July. The Defence Minister signed three agreements for military cooperation. Two MoUs were on white shipping information sharing and Hydrography. The third agreement was for cooperation in surveillance of economic exclusive zones (EEZ).

The Cabinet Minister held meetings with the Prime Minister of Mozambique. The Prime Minister acknowledged India’s timely contribution in the aftermath of the Cyclone IDAHI. India was the first country to reach out in the hour of need.

Rajnath Singh also met the interior minister and gifted him 44 SUV’s and 2 fast interceptor boats to add muscle to the security forces. Rajnath Singh also visited the Mozambique Defence Armed Forces military headquarter.

Meetings were also held with the Foreign Minister who expressed satisfaction at the political engagements between the two countries.

India and Mozambique’s thriving Government to Government ties, business exchanges, people-to-people links were discussed in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

 Discussions on co-operation and commitment to curb the growing terrorism and radicalisation were also included. The Defence Minister was briefed about the ongoing Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration (DDR) process.

The Defence Minister also interacted with the large Indian Diaspora in Mozambique.
