The ruling Bharatiya Janta Party releases its 48-page manifesto titled “Sankalp Patra” for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. Ram Mandir, double income for farmers and national security among major promises
The ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), on Monday, released its 48-Page vision document for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. The BJP Manifesto has been given the title of “Sankalp Patra” and is drafted on the theme of “Sankalpit Bharat – Shashakt Bharat.”
The document was unveiled in the presence of senior party leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chief Amit Shah, and other prominent party faces.
While addressing the media during the manifesto unveiling, BJP President, Amit Shah said, “In five years, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken 50 major decisions for the betterment of the country. From 2014-19, our government has transformed the country.”
Divided into twelve parts, BJP’s vision document for 2019 strives to cater every burning issue in the country today while keeping focus on party’s preferred agendas.
Addressing the national agrarian distress, BJP manifesto focused primarily on farmer’s welfare. In this regard, the manifesto promises income support of Rs 6000 to all farmers irrespective of land size, pension for small and marginal farmers, and Rs 25 lakh crore for Agri-rural sector.
The other major promises mentioned in the document include Ram Mandir, enforcement of Citizenship Bill for the whole country, and commitment to scrap Article 35A. Further, it includes support to the 22 major ‘Champion Sectors’ for job creation, 33% women reservation in parliament & state assemblies, and implementation of Uniform Civil Code.
The Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh said, “We reiterate our stand to explore all possibilities within the framework of the Constitution to facilitate the construction of a Ram Temple in Ayodhya.”
On Sunday, BJP showcased party’s campaign slogan Phir Ek Baar Modi Sarkar (Translates to: Modi government, once again) at the party headquarters in Delhi.
During the launch of the slogan, Union Minister Arun Jaitley said, “The first theme of the campaign will be ‘Kaam Karne Wali Sarkar’. Also, we formed a government in 2014 – an era of corruption, and ran an honest government. This is why the second theme is Imaandar Sarkaar. The third theme of the campaign will be Bade Faisle Lene Waali Sarkaar, since this government has taken the tough decisions which include development and national security.”
The primary opposition party – Indian National Congress — has already released its manifesto earlier this month.
The first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 is schedule to commence from 11th April 2019 in parts of the country.
