The UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020 became the platform gathering top business investors, national and international organisations to highlight the opportunities of developments across the African continent.

The event was hosted by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in London to promote trade and investments and to strengthen the economic relations between the UK and Africa.

The Summit centres on sustainable economic development and business investments between South Africa and the United Kingdom. The UK has promised investment worth 2.6 billion USD for the financing projects and trade over the next two years.

The delegations of 21 African nations were assembled in London to discuss various economic concerns and focusing on investments that aim for the economic recovery and growth in the African market, in the next five years. The UK being the second largest FDI investors in the African markets, investments on renewable energy projects were extensively discussed amid concerns of global climate change.

The UK and South Africa share robust and substantial bilateral as well as cultural ties. There were anti-poverty protests held outside the diplomatic event in London. The Summit sheds light on new dawn towards infrastructural development and economic growth between the UK and Africa.
