India will be hosting the 2018 Men’s Hockey World Cup this year in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The opening ceremony will take place in the Indian city on November 27, 6:30 p.m. IST.  

The fourteenth edition of Men’s Hockey World Cup will be hosted in the city of Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India. Sixteen countries from around the world will be participating in the World Cup, scheduled from November 28 to December 16, at the Kalinga stadium. The opening ceremony on Tuesday will comprise of performances by Bollywood celebrities like Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and A.R. Rahman.

India has previously won the World Cup against Pakistan in 1975, in Malaysia. It remains to be seen whether history will repeat itself in 2018.

Countries that will be participating in this year’s World Cup in India include Spain, Pakistan, England, Australia, Argentina, Germany and others. The accomplished Argentine hockey player, Gonzalo Peillat said “It’s a lifetime experience to play here”.
