The business lobby group of the Confederation of British Industry says the chances of Britain leaving the European Union without a deal are increasing, as Brexit enters the “emergency zone.”

The apprehensions around the ultimate fate of Brexit are at its peak and every concerned body is now voicing their trepidations. The latest to comment on the current state of operations is the business lobby group of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI).

While speaking to the electronic media, the CBI’s Director General, Carolyn Fairbairn, on Sunday, said, “It feels like the parliamentary process is in logjam, no way can be found through, so that prospect of no-deal feels much higher.” He further added, “We really are in the emergency zone of Brexit now.”

Last week, the President of European Council, Donald Tusk, while drawing major condemnation from Brexiteers, tweeted, “I’ve been wondering what that special place in hell looks like, for those who promoted #Brexit, without even a sketch of a plan how to carry it out safely.”

Britain is scheduled to leave the European Union officially on March 29, 2019. With just about 50 days in hand, Brexit (Britain’s Exit) still has a long way to go for creating some complacency on both sides. After British Prime Minister, Theresa May, survived the biggest parliamentary defeat in the history of Britain’s democratic era over her EU withdrawal agreement, the exit process is looming under dark clouds. The Brexit deal was voted down with a hefty majority of 230 British MP’s voting against it in the House of Commons.

The unprecedented parliamentary defeat was highly anticipated, as just before the vote, the Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, said, “the prime minister has treated Brexit as a matter for the Conservative party, rather than the good of the whole country.” He further called the PM’s efforts to pass Brexit through parliament “one of the most chaotic and extraordinary parliamentary processes” he had experienced in 35 years as an MP.
