United States’ President, Donald Trump has confirmed that he will be meeting North Korean Head of State, Kim Jong-un by the end of this month. The two leaders are expected to meet in Vietnam during President Donald Trump’s Asia visit

While addressing the United States Congress, US President Donald Trump confirmed that he will be meeting North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un on February 27 and February 28, 2019, in Vietnam. The leaders will meet during President Donald Trump’s Asia trip, however, the exact location for the meeting has not been revealed as yet.

In his State of the Union address on Wednesday morning, the US President asserted, “Much work remains to be done, but my relationship with Kim Jong-un is a good one. And Chairman Kim and I will meet again on February 27 and 28 in Vietnam”. Highlighting the outcomes of the first meeting between the two leaders, President Trump said, “Our hostages have come home, nuclear testing has stopped, and there has not been a missile launch in more than 15 months.”

The first meeting between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un took place in June, 2018, at the Singapore summit. It was seen as a historical step forward in nuclear cooperation as the meeting assured nuclear disarmament by North Korea. However, according to a recent statement by US Vice President Mike Pence “concrete steps by North Korea to dismantle the nuclear weapons” are still awaited.

The United States’ President will also hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his Asia trip to put an end to the ongoing China-US trade dispute.
