Six more people, who are suspected of involvement in the extremist attack in Nairobi, have been arrested. The total count of detainees has gone up to twelve now.

Six suspects believed to have a hand in the extremist attack in Nairobi have been arrested. The police chief has shared that one of the detainees arrested earlier held a British passport and is of Somai origin. The police have also revealed that they have arrested the wife as well as the father of the suicide bomber, Mahir Khalid Riziki. They were detained in Mombasa. The six suspects, who have appeared in the court for investigation, have been identified as Joel Nganga Wainaina, Oliver Kanyango Muthee, Gladys Kaari Justus, Guleid Abdihakim and Osman Ibrahim. One among them is a Canadian national. Prosecutors have added that they are pursuing other suspects in Kenya and outside it. “The investigations into this matter are complex and transnational and would therefore require sufficient time and resources to uncover the entire criminal syndicate,” said one of them. He also said that a team has been put in place to ensure that the investigations are meticulius and fast-tracked.

It may be recalled that terrorists had attacked Westlands area of Nairobi. The attack launched on a hotel complex in Nairobi on January 18, left 21 dead.
