In a joint statement, Saudi Arabia and UAE said that they want to protect the country under the leadership of the legitimate president, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE have pledged to continue their fight against Iran-backed Al Houthi militants. In a joint statement, Saudi Arabia and UAE averred that the Arab Coalition forces in Yemen have put in efforts to preserve the country under Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi’s leadership.
“The governments of the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on their responsibilities in the alliance supporting legitimacy in Yemen to save Yemen and its people from the coup of the Iran-supported Al Houthi militia, emphasise the continuation of all their political, military, relief and development efforts with the participation of the coalition’s countries,” the two countries said in a statement.
They further enjoined Yemen to co-operate with the UAE-Saudi committee alleviate the situation. A joint committee was formed by the Coalition between the two countries to maintain ceasefire in the Yemeni provinces of Shabwah and Abyan. The Arab Coalition includes countries like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Sudan, and Senegal.
The statement comes after Houthis launched six ballistic missiles and two drone attacks into Saudi Arabia. The missiles were launched by Houthis from the Saada province against citizens of Jizan city in Saudi Arabia.
Coalition spokesman Turki Al Maliki said on Monday that the committee will start their work from Monday. “The Houthi militias continued targeting of civilians through drones and ballistic missiles …is an act of aggression and terrorism and a war crime according to international human law,” he added.
The attacks against targets in the Kingdom by Houthis have escalated in the past few months. On the other hand, the coalition has targeted military sites controlled by the group near Sana’a.
