Mahagathbandhan’ Alliance Reveals Seat Allocation for Bihar

The grand alliance of Congress, RJD, RLSP, HAM and VIP announced seat allocation among alliance partners on Friday

The Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar comprises the Indian National Congress, Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD), Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP), Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP), and the Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM).

The grand alliance revealed seat allocation between partners for 31 constituencies of Bihar. These constituencies will go to polls between the third and seventh phase of elections. The state holds a total of forty Lok Sabha seats.

On Friday, RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav announced seat sharing arrangements at a press conference.

Darbhanga constituency seat was known to be amongst the top picks for both Congress and the RJD. Yadav has now revealed that the constituency will witness a RJD candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Congress was expected to give the Darbhanga seat to its sitting MP Kirti Azad. RJD Senior politician Abdul Bari Siddiqui will now contest from the seat.

According to the current allocation, RJD has the maximum number of seats in Bihar. Yadav said the alliance will not put any candidate forward in Ara constituency. The decision was taken to support the CPI (ML) Liberation in the constituency.

No senior Congress Party leaders were present at the press conference. Former Congress MLC Narendra Kumar Singh represented the national party.

RJD leader, Tejashwi Yadav also disclosed the names of candidates for his party. He further asserted, “Our candidates for 18 constituencies are final. We will do the same for Sheohar in the next few days.”
