Lyonpo Tandi Dorji, Foreign Minister of Bhutan arrived in New Delhi on Sunday Afternoon. He is on a week-long visit to India.
During his visit, he will hold bilateral discussions with India’s Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar.
Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement mentioning that Dorji is expected to hold talks with Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale in the evening.
According to an official statement, the two ministers will review the “entire gamut” of relations between the two countries. A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs reads, “The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan Lyonpo Tandi Dorji will be paying a visit to India from 17-23 November 2019.”
Furthermore, “During the visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bhutan will hold bilateral discussions with his counterpart External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.” They will hold bilateral talks at the Hyderabad house. Additionally, they will “review the entire gamut of India-Bhutan relations” both the countries share.
Importantly, Dorji will also pay a visit to Bodh Gaya and Rajgir in Bihar on November 19-20 to attend a two-day programme. Along with this, he will also visit Kolkata on November 21-22. Along with this, he will meet the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee. Additionally, he is planned to meet the Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankhar.
Moreover, “During the visit, the two sides will hold discussions on various aspects of bilateral relations.” Importantly, the various aspects include economic cooperation, development partnership and hydro-power cooperation.”
Besides, “Lyonpo Tandi Dorji’s visit is in keeping with the tradition of regular visits and exchange of views at the highest level between the two countries.” Notably, the External Affairs minister S. Jaishankar had undertaken a two-day visit to Bhutan on his first bilateral trip earlier in June.
