International Golfer Arrested for Poaching in Uttar Pradesh

International golfer, Jyotinder Singh Randhawa was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department under a poaching case in Motipur Range of the Katarniaghat national park, Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday

International golfer, Jyotinder Singh Randhawa or as he is commonly known, Jyoti Randhawa was arrested for poaching by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department on Wednesday. According to the Dudhwa Tiger Reserve Field Director, Ramesh Kumar Pandey, India’s National level shooter, Mahesh Virajdar was also arrested in the case in the Motipur Range of the Katarniaghat.

According to Director Ramesh Kumar, the staff was suspicious of Jyoti Randhawa, who had been roaming around in the Motipur area of Katarniaghat over the last three day. He further added that the international golfer owns a farm in the area and was intercepted inside the forest on Tuesday morning.

Wildlife articles, weapon and other equipments were found and seized from the golfer’s vehicle. Reportedly, forest officials seized range-finders, binoculars, the skin of wild boar, and a .22 rifle registered in Jyoti Randhwa’s name from the vehicle. The case is now being investigated under the Divisional Forest Officer of Katarniaghat.

The international professional golfer from India has previously been listed on the top 100 of the Official World Golf Ranking several times in the early 2000s.
