New Delhi: It’s raining gold for India in the Commonwealth Games 2018. The performance of the Indian women squad in games has been remarkable so far. Out of 14 gold medals won by India, 9 are won by women athletes in different games. From weightlifting, shooting, and boxing to table tennis, hockey, and badminton, women are at the center of a fabulous tournament for India.

It started with a gold medal from Sanjita Chanu in weightlifting, 16-year-old Manu Bhaker and Heena Sindhu then brought home gold and a silver medal, respectively, in the 10m Air Pistol event. Women team also won a historic gold medal for India in the table tennis women’s team event. Manika Batra put up an inspired show propelling India to glory while Mouma Das and Madhurika Patkar also played an important role with the win in women’s doubles.

Manu Bahker the teenage girl from Haryana won the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol event. A distant silver-medalist in the event also happened to be an Indian woman – Heena Sidhu.

Shooting is an uncomplicated sport, take aim and shoot. That’s why it’s important not to think too much. If you think too much, then it becomes complex, explained Bhaker.

In the weightlifting arena of the Carrara Sports and Leisure Center, Punam Yadav (69Kg) performed her personal best to improve the bronze she had won in the 2014 games to add another gold to India’s haul. Weightlifter Sanjita Chanu landed India its second gold medal, winning the top spot in the women’s 53 categories. Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu was the first gold medal winner for India, on an opening day, in the womens’48 kg category.

The women’s table tennis team of Manika Batra, Madhurika Patkar, and Mouma Das did exceptionally well and beat defending champions Singapore 3-1 for a historic maiden gold.

Saina Nehwal continued her good form and helped Indian team hammer Malaysia to grab the gold medal in Badminton.

Men’s team are performing equally well and contributing their share in winning medal for India. With 3 day more left in the closing of CWG 18, we are hoping for more medals from Indian athletes.
