India PM arrives in Singapore for East Asia Summit

India Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s arrival in Singapore today kicked off by delivering a keynote address at the Singapore Fintech Summit. He is the first leader to have addressed the festivals which was launched two years ago In his 30-minute speech, he said that India is a favourite destination when it comes to investment. He added that financial inclusion is now a reality for over 1 billion Indians.  The Prime Minister also shed light on the various digital initiatives introduced by his government, such as biometric identities, Jan Dhan Yojna and others.

PM Modi’s two-day visit to Singapore will also witness his participation in the East Asia Summit and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership summit. His visit will also be marked by a meeting with US Vice President Mark Pence.

Before he left for Singapore, the Indian leader said that his participation in the ASEAN-India and East Asia summits are a symbol of India’s “continued commitment” to strengthen ties with ASEAN members as well as the Indo-Pacific region.
