The storm made landfall near Sagar Islands in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district. On Saturday, its status got downgraded from “very severe” to “severe” at about 9 pm. importantly, the gale wind dropped its speed to about 115-125 km per hour.

In southern Bangladesh, at least 13 people got killed due to falling trees, collapsed houses and illness after cyclone Bulbul said the authorities on Monday.28 fishermen went missing in Barguna and Bhola. Despite storm warning, a boat ventured into the sea and, still unaccounted. Moreover, another boat sank in the sea.

Later on Sunday, the Cyclone ravaged about 5,000 homes in the country’s south-western coastal districts. The State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Enamur Rahman confirmed the figures. He mentioned that the extent of the damage is not very high.  Moreover, “we have been able to move the highest number of people to safety.”

The Cyclone has created havoc in many parts of India. Around 350 people from Baincha village are shifted to Balasore district in Odisha. The local officials are making efforts to clean up the roads which are blocked due fallen trees. Proper arrangements for food were also made for the villagers belonging to storm-stricken areas. The officials served them food yesterday.  

The Alipore Meteorological Department confirmed that the cyclone Bulbul has crossed West Bengal Yesterday. It will cross over Bangladesh after it.

GC Das, an official from Alipore Meteorological Department confirms that “Cyclonic storm Bulbul now lies over coastal areas of Bangladesh, away from Bengal”. Furthermore, “in the next 12 hours, this tropical cyclone will become depressed and lose intensity.” “There is only wind warning now,” he added. Althogh, the fishermen in the region are advised not to venture in the sea for the next few days. The Alipore Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued the warning.
