Ahead of Lok Sabha election 2019, the Congress rolled out its mega roadshow in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. The party leaders were greeted by hundreds of Congress workers

The Indian National Congress, India’s oldest political party, sounded the election bugle with a Mega Roadshow in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. The newly elected general secretary in-charge of Eastern UP, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with Congress President, Rahul Gandhi and MP and West UP secretary, Jyotiraditya Scindia arrived together in the city for a 20-km roadshow.

The roadshow in Lucknow was also the official public debut of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra after inducted in the party for a formal position, last month. Although the 47-year-old leader is no stranger to political gathering of such demeanor, this was Priyanka’s first roadshow outside of Amethi and Raibareli, both known as Gandhi family’s home grounds.

“Priyanka and Scindia-ji will work for the Lok Sabha election but their mission goes beyond that to the assembly polls. We will not relent until we establish a Congress government in UP,” said Rahul Gandhi in course of the roadshow, stressing that his party was in UP for the long-haul. Congress is trying every possible equation in the bid to reclaim the lost ground. Party President, Rahul Gandhi, has already said that the party will be on the front foot for the upcoming general elections.

Sharing several pictures from the roadshow, the party’s officially tweeted, “Lucknow is filled to the brim with Congress supporters that have gathered to see Congress President @RahulGandhi & GS Incharges UP East @priyankagandhi & West @JM_scindia during their roadshow.”

Prior to the roadshow, Priyanka, in an audio message through the party’s Shakti App on Sunday, said, I hope that we can all come together to bring about a new kind of politics. A kind of politics in which all of you will be stakeholders.”

Losing all seats except Amethi and Raibareli, the party faced its biggest defeat in Uttar Pradesh, often touted as the road to center with most number of constituencies, in Lok Shabha election 2014.
